Together with managing director Martin Petzl, in the context of a management buy-out (MBO) we are acquiring 100 percent of the shares in the LD Didactic (LD) group of companies from the Europe-wide alternative investment group AURELIUS.

The LD DIDACTIC Group, based in Hürth near Cologne, was founded in 1850 by Ernst Leybold and acquired by AURELIUS in 2009. It develops, produces, and distributes teaching systems and educational technology (EdTech) for science and technology education. Marketed under the ELWE, Feedback and LEYBOLD brands, the Group serves schools, vocational colleges, and universities. These include RWTH Aachen University, the city of Cologne, the Hürth comprehensive school and the Wittgenstein technical college in Bad Berleburg.

The Group distributes its products and solutions in Germany as well as via a dealer network and selected partners in Europe and beyond. It employs around 160 people and has 5 locations in Germany, England, and Hungary.

Development of sales activities

“We have successfully left the pandemic behind us and are seeing an overall increase in demand for products for digital teaching,” says Martin Petzl, who has managed the company since 2020 and played a leading role in initiating the MBO. “I am delighted to have found a reliable regional partner in S-UBG, who will support us in further expanding our portfolio and sales and placing new products on the market. In the technology sector, our focus is on automotive and electrical engineering, energy transition, energy transmission and SMART GRID. In the area of science, we are focusing on the further virtualisation and digitalisation of the experiment portfolio as well as sustainability topics such as climate change.”
